George H. Meier, III, MD encourages all SCVS members and their guests, to attend the upcoming 38th Annual Symposium at the Westin Kierland Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Presidential Address
One of the highlights of the SCVS Annual Symposium is the traditional Presidential Address. Dr. Meier’s address is titled “The Evolution of Vascular Surgery: Is It Time for a New Direction?” and will be given on Friday, April 9 at 11:20 a.m.

Western Theme Banquet
In the spirit of the “old west”, the Annual Reception and Banquet will be held on Friday, April 9th, in Marshall’s Outpost. We encourage all attendees to celebrate by dressing in “upscale western” attire, so grab your best pair of blue jeans, western shirts, boots and/or cowboy hats and join us for a festive evening of fun and entertainment.

Distinguished Visiting Professor
The SCVS is pleased to welcome Thom W. Rooke, MD from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota as this year’s Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Special Interest Group Sessions
A variety of Special Interest Group (SIG) Breakfast Sessions have been scheduled for Thursday (7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m), Friday (7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m) and Saturday (8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m) mornings. These sessions will focus on a number of “hot” topics in vascular surgery.

Focus Sessions (Formerly PG Courses)
During this year’s annual symposium, two individual Focus Sessions will be presented. “What Made Vascular News in 2009?” and “Population Based Studies: Facts and Fiction”

Bylaws Changes
The SCVS will be voting on changes to the SCVS Bylaws during the 2010 Annual Business Meeting on Friday, April 9th, at 12:30 pm in Kierland 1B & C.. The changes pertain to the requirements for active and candidate membership.
